GCHS Program Information
Gillespie County High School is a credit recovery and drop-out prevention program offered to Fredericksburg ISD students. High school diplomas are earned by meeting the state of Texas requirements for graduation. School hours are flexible to allow for full or part-time employment.
Gillespie County High School students must meet the state at-risk criteria to be considered for the program. An interview will be conducted to ensure each student is motivated to graduate and that he/she meets all entry requirements. GCHS employs a self-paced learning environment and each student’s coursework is tailored to his/her individual needs for graduation.
GCHS provides opportunities to develop skills in resume writing, interviewing, career research, work place ethics, and professional development. Students will acquire the skills to become productive citizens in a vastly changing society.
Since education and community involvement is the key to success, students will meet with local business professionals, visit with college and military recruiters, and attend field trips to colleges and trade schools. Community members visit with students at GCHS and often present scholarship opportunities.
GCHS Student Eligibility
Students must be at least 16 years old and have completed their freshman and sophomore years of high school. Twelve high school credit hours are required to be GCHS eligible. Students graduating from GCHS can receive an endorsement diploma so they can enroll into a four-year college after graduating.
Graduation
Graduation is held in May.
